| A standup defensive end for his Pahokee team, Hawthorne's game is based on recognition and closing speed. He lives in the offensive backfield, and makes it nearly impossible for a back to run wide around his end. He'll be a linebacker on the college level and will need to get bigger and stronger, but size and strength are easy to add. His flexibility, quick burst, and nose for the football are much harder to come by - Scott Kennedy, Scout.com |

Hawthorne says he wants to major in engineering and reports a 3.5 core GPA and a 17 ACT and 1110 SAT. He plans to graduate early and be ready for spring ball.
Hawthorne: "I'm a leader on the field. I'm real aggressive and I play smart. I try to be a student of the game and play physical, fast and hard.
"I want to improve on my coverage skills and get more picks. I'd like to make more tackles too."
