Biography:
Frederick was in the running for the starting center spot in 2003 before he had a stress fracture to his left foot during fall camp. He recovered to start the second game of the season (Ball State) but re-injured the foot and sat most of the season out. He saw some action in two other games. Rob has unfortunately suffered the injury again in August, after being named the starting left guard, and will be trying hard to get back on the field during his last season as a Panther. Frederick earned a "Chairman of the Board" honor from the coaching staff for his offseason conditioning.

Rob Frederick transferred from Tulsa to play for his hometown Panthers as an invited walk-on. Rob was a three-year letterman and starter on the offensive and defensive lines at Southmoreland High School in Scottdale, PA, playing center on offense and tackle on defense, plus handling the long-snap duties. He was a three-year selection to the Fay-West All-Star team, selected to the Pennsylvania Fabulous 85 team, and nominated for the Big 33 Football Classic. Rob was also named to the Pennsylvania Sports Fever Magazine Supreme Team.

Rob was recruited by the Panthers out of high school, but decided to go to Tulsa to play with his brother Ron who is also on the team. Rob redshirted last season and had a very strong spring practice, grading out very highly. He was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll as a true freshmen.
