Tim Murphy moved from running back to fullback in 2002 and will be seasoned at the position while providing important depth behind Lousaka Polite. Tim has shown flashes of impressive running ability, rushing for 58 yards on only 3 carries for an 18.7-yard average. He redshirted in 2001 due to a shoulder injury but came back strong for the 2002 spring drills to be an Ed Conway Award recipient.

At John R. Buchtel HS, Tim was selected to first team All-Northeast Ohio twice and to first team All-Akron City Series three times. The Akron Beacon Journal named him City Player of the Year in 1999. As a senior he racked up 1,795 yards over 174 carries for 23 touchdowns, and 2,147 yards over 197 carries for 27 touchdowns as a junior. Buchtel amassed a 37-12 record during his career there and 3 trips to the state playoffs. PrepStar named him All-Midwest Region.
