Charles Spencer showed flashes of excellence in 2002, his first active season on the squad. Spencer certainly has all the tools to be a playmaker at defensive tackle with outstanding size and surprising quickness pursuing the football. If he's learned the moves and details of the position, Charles will see some significant playing time in 2003. Charles started at defensive end and tight end at Trinity-Pawling preparatory school in 2000 and redshirted as a true freshman in 2001.

Charles was a two-way starter at Poughkeepsie HS also and earned All-County, All-Section, and All-Region honors. He was named MVP of the Exceptional Senior All-Star game. In addition to football, Spencer was a three-year starter on the basketball team and was named first team All-Poughkeepsie Journal.
