| Darrell Strong chose the Panthers over Auburn for the opportunity to play QB rather than TE, as the the Tigers wanted him to play TE. Strong could be in the battle to back up the projected 2004 starting QB Tyler Palko. Darrell was a two-year starter at perenial powerhouse Plantation HS as a QB his senior year and WR as a junior. Darrell joins fellow Plantation grads Nick Williams, H.B. Blades and DE coach Charlie Partridge on the team.
Strong threw for 1,200 yards and 17 TD's with only 3 interceptions over his senior year at Plantation. His efforts at QB and WR led Plantation HS to a 21-3 record over his junior and senior years. He was selected to the Broward-Dade County All-Star Game and was rated in the top 60 Florida prospects by SuperPrep. SuperPrep also placed him in the All-Dixie Team and All-Southeast Region.
