Pitt Hoops Gets 2nd 2011 Commit
Bond helped Plymouth Whitemarsh High School win the PIAA Class AAAA championship last month. He averaged 18.6 points per game during the regular season and was being heavily recruited this winter. He reportedly had his choices down to Pitt, Temple and West Virginia.
Bond's Colonials went 30-2 this past season, including a 21-1 mark during the regular campaign. Plymouth Whitemarsh Penn Wood, 54-49 in overtime, in the District I Class AAAA title game. The Colonials avenged that defeat in the state final with a 58-51 decision.
The Times-Herald noted that Bond contacted Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon late Friday night to verbally announce his commitment. Bond reportedly made an unofficial visit to the school this past weekend, and he also visited West Virginia. In the PIAA semifinal game against North Allegheny High School, Dixon watched Bond tally 26 points and 15 rebounds to advance to the title game.
Bond has a tremendous up-side and he reportedly had offers from West Virginia, Temple, Saint Joseph's, LaSalle, Villanova, and Penn State as well before deciding on Pitt. He also received interest from Connecticut, Maryland, Florida State, Kansas, and Seton Hall.
Bond appears to be ticketed to play the three spot (small forward) with the Panthers.
