The Arizona Cardinals looked absent in their loss to the Carolina Panthers at home last Sunday. Were there any bright spots? Which units were the worst? Here is the Cardinals weekly report card.
REPORT CARD VS. PANTHERS
PASSING OFFENSE: F --
Kurt Warner
threw five interceptions and lost a fumble when he tried to scramble. Warner has been inaccurate the last few weeks and
Larry Fitzgerald
can't get open deep.
RUSHING OFFENSE: B --
The Cardinals rushed for 94 yards on 17 carries and could have had more if not for the six turnovers. They fell behind and couldn't stick with the run.
PASS DEFENSE: C --
Carolina only had to pass 14 times and gained only 90 yards. But 50 of that came on a touchdown pass to
Steve Smith
RUSH DEFENSE: F --
Can you give a grade that's worse? The Cardinals were ranked No. 1 in the league entering the game but you couldn't tell it last Sunday. The Panthers gained 270 yards on 44 carries.
SPECIAL TEAMS: B --
LaRod Stephens-Howling
finally broke a long kick return, a 53-yarder that contributed to a touchdown. Coverage teams were decent.
COACHING: F --
The loss dropped the Cardinals to 1-3 at home. There wasn't any passion or fire from the players on the field and numerous mistakes doomed the Cardinals from the start. They had a chance to win their fourth straight and extend their NFC West lead to two games.
