Pitt Blue-Gold Hoops Scrimmage

Fans will get their first glimpse of the 2009-10 Pitt men's basketball team during the annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is general admission, and fans are urged to move close to the court. Parking is available for $5 at the OC Lot.
Pittsburgh
coach Jamie Dixon uses the scrimmage to simulate a typical game-day schedule. The 14-player team will be split into two squads. Pitt will play two 15-minute halves with a five-minute halftime break.
Pitt returns one starter in senior guard
Jermaine Dixon
, although he won't be playing for at least another months due to a foot injury. The Panthers also return four other letterwinners including juniors

, along with sophomores

are both back after redshirting their freshmen seasons last year. Pitt also welcomes five scholarship newcomers in senior transfer

Pitt is coming off an historic 2008-09 season that saw it accumulate a 31-5 record, advance to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time since 1974, ascend to the nation's No. 1 ranking for the first time in school history (for three weeks on two occasions) and earn a No. 1 seed upon entering the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Pitt plays host to its first exhibition game Sunday, Nov. 1, when it plays Slippery Rock at 4 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
