Pitt's win at Louisville Friday night boosted its profile, so the Panthers' next game will reach a larger audience.
Pittsburgh
(4-1) will face
Connecticut
(3-1), which is coming off a bye week, Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Heinz Field and be televised by ABC-TV on a regional basis.
The Big East matchup was to be televised regardless of what the Panthers did against
Louisville
, but it would have been a Conference game of the week instead of this since they won.
The game will be aired in Pittsburgh on WTAE-TV (Channel 4).
In addition to the ABC affiliates that will carry Pitt-Connecticut, any ABC stations assigned to that day’s Big Ten game (
Wisconsin
at
Ohio State
) will get the Pitt-Connecticut contest on ESPN in that particular region.
The TV coverage map is expected to be released on Monday.
The Panthers improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big East following a 35-10 victory at Louisville Friday night. Pitt is an impressive 14-5 over its last 19 games dating back to the 2007 season.
The Huskies, who are 3-1 overall, will play their first Big East game of the season when they face Pitt.
Pitt's ensuing game, Friday, Oct. 17 at
Rutgers
, is scheduled for an 8 p.m. kickoff and be televised nationally by ESPN. However, none of the remaining games have kickoff times, but the final three will be televised.
The Panthers play host to
South Florida
Oct. 24 and entertain
Syracuse
Nov. 7 after a bye week.
Notre Dame
visits Heinz Field Nov. 14 for an ABC, ESPN or ESPN 2 game, while Pitt is at
West Virginia
Friday, Nov. 27 for an ABC or ESPN matchup. The regular-season finale, which could be for the Big East title against
Cincinnati
, is Dec. 5 and will be televised by either ABC, ESPN or ESPN 2.
