Monday saw two more offers come Dan Schneider's way. We have this audio interview with Dan talking…
Schneider Recent Pitt Offer
"Yes, there are a lot of Ohio schools in there, but that doesn't matter to me,'' Schneider said. "It can be as far away as it can be. I just want to find a place where I'll fit in the best and be happy going to school and playing football for 4-5 years. I'm very happy that Pitt has offered me.
"Just looking around the indoor facility, it's beautiful. It's the top of the line right here. I know they share the practice facilities and Heinz Field with the Steelers. That's great. I'm a Cleveland Browns fan, but that's great for Pitt to share its facilities with an NFL team. Who wouldn't want to play here?''
Schneider has played defensive end and tight end at Avon Lake, which is located right on the lake less than a 30-minute drive west of Cleveland.
"We got a little lost on the way in, so we were driving around campus, and it's real nice over there,'' Schneider said. "It's a nice campus, real nice compared to some of the places that I've been. Most schools are looking at me as a tight end, and that's what Pitt is recruiting me. And I've sent film out everywhere.
"Toledo doesn't know what's going on just yet because there's a different staff coming in, and Buffalo already took three tight ends this year. So, they're looking at me as a fullback. But that's all right. I know that Pitt loses three tight ends this year, so it's a big priority for them the next couple years.''
Schneider is thrilled that his recruiting interest has picked up recently, especially after teammate Christian Pace received a Pitt offer.
"I've seen a lot of good players from my school and area get passed up and have to go D-II or something like that, so I'm just glad to have some options,'' Schneider said. "I'm not sure why they get passed up. Maybe they didn't get the right exposure. So, I just feel blessed to have an opportunity to show what I can do at various combines and camps.''
Schneider had 16 catches this past season at Avon Lake, but his blocking skills have been just as crucial for the power-running Shoremen.
