Akron has done well recruiting Beaver County in Pennsylvania and the Zips hope to have struck gold again in Jake Delmonico. The talented wide receiver had an outstanding senior season and earned himself a few D-I scholarships in the process.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Akron has landed a verbal pledge from Blackhawk wide receiver Jake Delmonico.

Delmonico held an offer from Army as well. Pittsburgh was also showing considerable interest, but never pulled the trigger.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder caught 55 passes for 601 yards. He also tallied 33 carries for 199 and scored a combined 13 touchdowns.

Delmonico has been clocked in the (4.4) range and has posted a 39-inch vertical leap. will have more on this breaking story.
