Hawkins Added To PantherDigest Staff

Andrew Hawkins has been added to the staff at the Pantherdigest.com to add recruiting coverage and evaluating Pittsburgh Panther recruits and prospects. Hawkins knows all about big time football and especially the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Andrew Hawkins is an articulate young man who has known for quite some time that he would eventually settle down after his playing days and pursue his passion of following college football recruiting and evaluating players.

"This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time," Hawkins said. "I called Bob Lichtenfels when I decided it was time. He covered me in high school and always said he'd hire me when I was ready. I look forward to working with him, we're from the same area back home and I want to learn everything I can from him."

Lichtenfels, the Eastern/Midwestern Regional Manager for Scout.com was excited about the hire and the chance to work with a pupil that he once covered.

"Hawk called me a few weeks ago and he said he was entertaining some other offers from other media outlets," Lichtenfels said." He told me that he remembered me telling him about five years ago that when his playing days were up that I'd hire him. I do remember that, the kid has a fire and a passion for this business that you need to be successful.

"Hawk knows the game as well as anyone," Lichtenfels continued. "He actually interned for a PA high school site on Rivals when he was still in high school. He is a very well spoken young man and I think he'll have a huge career in the field if he decides to follow it.

Hawkins will cover recruiting on a few of the sites around the region and be an assistant to Lichtenfels. Hawkins has a good feel for the prospects in Ohio and Pennsylvania and can add a lot to the network.

"My focus is having Andrew cover a lot of Pennsylvania and Ohio." Lichtenfels added. "That will be helping sites that cover Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Michigan, Cincinnati and others who recruit the region."
