Steelton, Pa., native Jeremiah Young is still awaiting his first written scholarship offer and says…
Young Visits Pittsburgh
"It was a very good visit and I found it to be educational," Young stated. "They talked to us a lot about the recruiting process and what the rules and regulations were when we got there. After that we went to meet with our individual position coaches and I learned the things that are most important to the Pitt staff is that running backs can run, catch and block well. I think I'm good at the first two, but I definitely need to get better in pass protection. When we go to passing formations I almost always kick out into the slot as a receiver, so my blocking skills aren't where they need to be yet. That's something I'm going to be working on so I can become a more complete player."
"One thing I really liked was the hospitality we were shown there," Young explained. "When we went to the basketball game the students were all high-fiving us and asking us who we were. They were hype during the game and the only thing that was bad about the visit was that the basketball team lost. Coach (Brian) Angelichio told me to call him anytime I needed anything and said that they are very, very interested in me. We actually brought our film with us, so they haven't been able to review it yet, so I'm hoping they like it."
What stood out to Young the most on his visit?
"Definitely the coaching staff. They were really cool and fun to hang out with, but at the same time they let us know that when it's game time it's game time and you're going to know it by their attitude. I like that they keep it real there."
Young rushed for 3344 yards and 37 touchdowns as a junior. He set an all-time rushing record in the Class A title game for most yardage with a 45 carry, 292-yard, four touchdown performance against Serra Catholic.
Following his junior season, Young now has 6235 career rushing yards.
