Tommie Duhart prepares for Florida visit

The University of Pittsburgh had landed an abundance of talent in its touted recruiting class of 2007. One of the top defensive prospects that has verbally committed to Pitt happens to be defensive lineman Tommie Duhart from Coffeyville Community College (El Dorado, KS). The PantherDigest.com spoke with him about his upcoming visit to Florida.

"I was supposed to visit the University of Florida last weekend but I had to change the date," stated defensive lineman Tommy Duhart (6-5 inches, 290 pounds) from Coffeyville Community College in El Dorado, KS. "I'm going to visit there this weekend a take a look at their program."

Duhart had an outstanding season for the Ravens. He registered 16 solo tackles, 37 assisted tackles, 10 tackles for a loss (46 total lost yards), 6 ½ sacks (33 total lost yards), 12 quarterback hurries, 4 batted balls, 2 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and 2 blocked field goals. Tommie will have three years of eligibility.

"I consider myself a Pitt commitment taking a closer look at another football program. Florida has expressed a lot of interest in me and I think it at least deserves a look. It's close to home and clearly they have done well on the field," Duhart said. "That being said, I still consider myself strongly committed to the Panthers."

Duhart has the opportunity to step in and solidify a starting position next season with the Panthers. When asked if playing time factored into his decision, he stated, "I guess I would play sooner at Pitt but I believe in my abilities and I believe I could start anywhere."

Scout.com ranks Duhart a "four-star" prospect. He's capable of bench pressing nearly 400 pounds and running a 4.9 forty-yard dash.

"I really liked it at Pitt and I think highly of Coach (Paul) Rhodes. I simply want to take a look at another program so I feel complete about decision. I really don't expect anything to chance in terms of where I'm playing football. I committed to Pitt and I still see myself playing there."
