Could be a Panther this Weekend

Jared Williams

Pittsburgh landed commitments last year from a bevy of talented defensive backs and they look as though they will land another this weekend. Pittsburgh City League standout Jared Williams is closing in on a decision. His father states that it will likely happen this weekend

Pittsburgh (Pa.) Perry cornerback Jared Williams, 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, was offered by the University of Pittsburgh earlier this year, but he has taken his time with his decision.

Scout.com caught up with Jared and his father Irving at Joe Butler's Metro-Index camp on Tuesday evening to get an update on Jared's status.

"I'm getting close, I still need to talk things over with my dad, but it will happen soon," Jared Williams said.

Soon, indeed according to Irving Williams.

"I'm going to talk to Jared tonight, but right now the plan is to go down to Pitt this weekend and give them a verbal commitment," Irving Williams explained by phone Wednesday morning.

Pat Bostick is expected to announce his decision on Friday, so it appears as though the Panthers could land two commitments over the weekend. The Panthers are still the only offer for Williams.
