Panthers and Bearcats offer Ohio DE

Head Coach Dave Wannstedt tapped into the state of Ohio to land standout recruits Joe Thomas and Jovani Chappel in 2006. It appears he has targeted a number of playing for the class of 2007. One of them happens to be a blue-chip defensive end from Dayton, OH.

"I have two offers right now. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati have offered me a scholarship," stated defensive end prospect Rob Trigg (6-foot-3 inches, 245 pounds) from Chaminade-Julienne High School in Dayton, OH. "There are others school that are in close touch with me. Michigan State, Purdue, Iowa State, Ohio State, Boston College and Maryland are in close touch with me. I think Iowa State and Michigan State may be close to offering."

Trigg is capable of running a 4.7 forty-yard and bench pressing 260 pounds. When asked about his strengths, he stated, "I'm fast off the ball. You could say that I'm a speed rusher. I have good hands and I'm good at using them to get past offensive linemen."

"I think Pittsburgh has a strong program. They struggled last year but I think it was part of the rebuilding process for them. I'm guessing they should turn things around soon. It's fairly close to home. Hopefully I can get there for a visit sometime soon."

Backeup center Chris Vangas was the last player to join the Panthers from Chaminade-Julienne High School. Rob plans on attending summer football camps at Purdue and Michigan State. He is unsure as to whether he will attend the Panthers' camp.

Trigg was named second team Division III All-Ohio by the Associated Press as a junior.

"I want to go to a school that will provide me with a solid education. Academics is very important to me. I would like to major in physical therapy. I want to attend a school with a strong football program as well."

"I'm excited about my offer from the Panthers. Hopefully I can visit there soon."
