Athletic OL to visit Panthers

The University of Pittsburgh hosted a myriad of quality offensive linemen during their spring practices. One of the top linemen in the state of Pennsylvania will be visiting next week. Do the Panthers have an opportunity to land this lineman? Read on.

"I have two offers right now. Michigan State and Akron have offered me," stated massive offensive line prospect Paul Simkovich (6-foot-5 inches, 298 pounds) from Greater Latrobe Senior High School in Latrobe, PA. "My last three visits have been Michigan State, Purdue and Akron."

Simkovich has been a two-year starter at right tackle. He projects as a tackle on the next level due to his mobility and athleticism. Despite his considerable size, Paul is an accomplished hockey player.

"I have looked at Pitt's spring schedule and I'm going to head down there next week to watch practice."

Paul grew up rooting for Penn State. When asked if he was a Nitanny Lion lock, he stated, "Not at all. My grandfather was a Penn State fan and my mother and uncle are Pitt fans. I grew up kinda rooting for both. I'm wide open and looking for the best school for me."

Simkovich is capable of bench pressing 280 pounds and squatting 455 pounds. He can run the forty-yard dash in 5.22 seconds. He attended the Scout.com All-American combine in Pittsburgh, PA and performed very well.

"My speed is my best asset. I'm athletic for a big guy and I can handle speed rushers. I can shut down defensive ends. In my opinion, I move better than most big linemen."
