“I really enjoyed junior day. It was put together well and they did a great job showing off everything that the Pitt program had to offer,” stated massive offensive line prospect Paul Simkovich (6-foot-5 inches, 298 pounds).
Simkovich has been a two-year starter at right tackle. He projects as a tackle on the next level due to his mobility and athleticism. Despite his considerable size, Paul is an accomplished hockey player.
“I have grown up a Penn State fan. I would be lying to you if I didn’t tell you that. The trip to Pitt really opened my eyes to the school. The coaches are great and the facilities are simply incredible. The visit there put them is a solid position with me.”
Paul has already received an offer from Michigan State. He believes that Purdue is very close to offering as well. Simkovich is capable of bench pressing 280 pounds and squatting 455 pounds. He can run the forty-yard dash in 5.22 seconds.
When asked about his strengths, he stated, “I’m big, physical and I’m fast. My speed is my best asset. I can shut down defensive ends. I’m not your typical big, slow lineman.”
“It’s early and I’m still open. I’m going to attend several camps over the summer and see what offers come from there. If Pitt offers me a scholarship, I would be very interested. I talked with Coach (Dave) Wannstedt on Saturday and he would be great to play for.”
