University of Pittsburgh Head Football Coach Dave Wannstedt currently has one of the top ten recruiting classes in the nation. The Panthers' 2006 recruiting class improved even more when blue-chip cornerback Aaron Berry (5-ft-10 inches, 175 pounds) from Bishop McDevitt High School verbally committed to Pitt this afternoon.

Aaron Berry a three-star cornerback/wide receiver from Bishop McDevitt High in Harrisburg, Pa., announced his college decision today at a press conference. Berry had decided he will contuinue his football career at Pittsburgh.

"I have decided to commit to the University of Pittsburgh," Berry said. "The biggest thing was the comfort level, I felt real comfortable there. It's close to home, so my parents can come watch me play. West Virginia was second, they were in the lead for a while, but I just felt more comfortable at Pitt.

Berry is the third cornerback to commit to the Panthers. He joins standout prospects, Jovani Chappel from Trotwood, OH., and Ricky Gary from Pahokee, FL. Aaron amassed over 40 scholarship offers.

Scout.com ranks Berry a three-star prospect and the 40th best cornerback in the nation. He was named first-team All-Conference as a junior. Aaron missed four games due to a broken collarbone. On offense he caught 40 passes for 1,100 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. Berry intercepted five passes on defense. Aaron has primarily been recruited by Pitt's linebacker coach Curtis Bray.

Berry said he finished the regular season with 45 catches for 1,012 yards and 18 touchdowns. He visited Minnesota (10/28), Pitt(1/6) and West Virginia (1/13). Aaron reports a 2.9 grade point average with a score of 950 on his SAT.
