Fields to decide this weekend

Elijah Fields (6-ft-2 inches, 200 pounds) from Duquesne High School (Duquesne, PA) is considered one of the top players in Western Pennsylvania. He is set to make a final decision this weekend. Fields talks to the PantherDigest.com about his favorite schools.

"I decided not to visit Ohio State this weekend. My top two schools are Pitt and Penn State. I'm going to decide between the two of them this weekend," stated Elijah Fields.

Fields is a Scout.com "four-star" prospect and ranked the 10th best safety in the nation. He was named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fab 22" team, first-team Class A Associated Press All-State, MSASPORTS "Elite 11", Pittsburgh Tribune Review"Terrific 25", and first-team All-WPIAL. The Associated Press crowned Fields as its 2005 Class A Player of the Year.

"Coach (Joe) Paterno visited my school yesterday and Coach (Tom) Bradley came to my house for an in-home visit. The coaches from Pitt come to my house today for my final in home visit. I think Coach (Dave) Wannstedt and Coach (Bob) Junko are coming."

Elijah was named the WPIAL Class A Player of the Year. He finished with 704 yards rushing on 59 carries and caught 42 passes for 1,167 yards.

When asked what would factor into his final decision, Fields stated, "I want to go to the school that made me feel most comfortable. My chemistry with the incoming players will be important."

Does he feel comfortable with the stellar class assembled by Coach Wannstedt? "Yes, I like that group quite a bit. My friend Shane Brooks is there as well."

"I should have a decision by Saturday or Sunday."
