"I decided I will attend Pittsburgh as a preferred walk-on," Hutchins said. "I decided over the weekend after Coach (Dave) Wannstedt presented his the situation, I was impressed and I made the decision that I want to be in Pittsburgh."
Hutchins was hosted on his visit by another walk-on kicker Connor Lee. Lee was able to shed some light on the whole walk-on debate.
"Connor is a walk-on, so he really helped me understand what it means and how it works."
The All-State kicker explained why he chose Pittsburgh.
"Everything was just real comforting. the coaches there really care about the program. i was impressed with the academics and the tutoring program. There was nothing negative about the whole visit."
Hutchins has applied for admission and is almost set to take the next step.
"I have already been accepted, I just have to get all the financial aid in order now."
Hutchins connected on 32/35 XP's this season and 4/5 FG's with a long of 45-yards. he also avergaed 40 yards per punt as well.
"Punter and kicker are both options, but I going to focus on kicking when I get there."
Pittsburgh hosted four official visitors over the weekend including a potential preferred walk-on kicker. Dan Hutchins spoke to us on his way home from his visit.
