According to various wire reports, Pittsburgh junior receiver Greg Lee will forgo his senior season and make himself eligible for the NFL draft. Message boards have been buzzing for weeks with people wondering what the future may hold for the talented pass catcher.
Lee, who was a first-team All-Big East selection and led the conference in receiving yards per game (87.5), had been leaning toward turning pro during most of his junior season.
He is the third Pitt receiver in four years to leave school early for the draft. Larry Fitzgerald played two seasons at Pitt and was picked by Arizona in the first round of the 2004 draft; Antonio Bryant, who played three seasons at Pitt, was picked by Dallas in the second round in '02. Bryant now starts for the Cleveland Browns.
Lee is not expected to be drafted very high; most scouting services have him projected at best in the fourth or fifth rounds of the draft. Now begs the question who steps in to fill the void?
Pitt will be bringing in two very talented freshmen wide receiver in Dorin Dickerson and Aaron Smith. Derek Kinder will be expected to step up and become a major contributor.
