Lowell Robinson is quite the accomplished football player, after originally signing with Wisconsin out of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. Robinson entered Erie Community College and the accolades have never stopped coming. While the accolades are nice, Robinson draws from something more in his life then a trophy.

“My seven month old baby girl Laniya Robinson she is my inspiration, her mother is a model out here and I’m planning on getting them out to Pittsburgh with me,” Robinson said. “I’m ready to do the family thing; my experience in junior college has made me a man.”

Most young men like Lowell Robinson, would likely run away from such a serious responsibility at a young age, but not this future Pittsburgh Panther.

“I write on my wrist tape before every game “God, Jesus lives with me and I put her name on the other to draw my inspiration. I don’t let the situation get me down; these are the experiences that will mold who I am. I work all summer long too provide for her.

Robinson took a recent official visit to the school he had committed to only a few short weeks ago.

“It was sweet. I accomplished a lot. I think I’ll play right away, the folks in Pittsburgh don’t know yet, but they getting a playa. I was under rated most of the year. The whole chemistry at Pitt was great and all the coaches are real. You can tell they’re real just by talking to them. Coach (Dave) Wannstedt told me I am an impact player. Coach Wannstedt is straight; Pitt is definitely it for me. I hung out with a few of the other recruits Nate (Byham) and (Kevin) Collier man we just all clicked.”

Robinson is always optimistic about everything, especially his time at Erie community College.

“Being at a JUCO has polished my game, but I’m always willing to get better. I have been playing this game for a long time and I’m ready to take it to the next level. I was talking with coach (Paul) Rhoads about the scheme and I’m pretty familiar with it already.”

This season Robinson picked off eight passes and returned four for touchdowns. The versatile four-star prospect also returned two kickoffs and a punt for scores He was named the Northeast Conference’s defensive MVP, and was also selected as a first team JUCO All-American.”

Rutgers recently tried to enter the mix.

“They offered me the morning of my official visit to Pittsburgh.”

If his plan of going from Pitt to the NFL shall falter Robinson has a contingency plan.

“I’m planning on majoring in media communications and getting a minor in drama and theater. I want to be an actor.”
