After sending in his paperwork, University of Pittsburgh junior point guard Carl Krauser officially withdrew his name from draft consideration in the late hours, Tuesday evening.
"I pulled my name out," Krauser told Scout.com and CBS SportsLine's Jeff Goodman, providing music to the ears of Pitt fans across the country.
Krauser led the Panthers in scoring (16 ppg), assists (5.9) and 3-pointers (54) a year ago. He was considered to be a late first round/high second round selection had he kept his name in the draft, scheduled for June 28th.
5 p.m. Tuesday evening was the last opportunity collegiate players had to withdraw their name and still retain their college eligibility.
Pittsburgh is 79-19 in Krauser's three seasons at Pitt, where he helped lead the Panthers to a pair of Big East regular-season titles and one Big East Tournament crown. The All-Big East selection from a year ago has been instrumental in keeping Pitt's program afloat, including stepping in for All-American Brandan Knight a year ago.
The Panthers have made the Sweet 16 twice and been to the NCAA Tournament in all three of Krauser's seasons.
With his expected return, Pittsburgh would have a formidable one-two punch with Krauser and fellow guard Ronald Ramon.
