Wannstedt reels in Floridian

Athletic big man commits during in-home visit.

Dave Wannstedt showed his ability to be the closer that the University of Pittsburgh program had so desperately needed. Wannstedt went to Belle Glade (Fla.) Thursday night and left with a much-needed commitment from an athletic tight end.

Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central athlete Tommy Duhart, 6-3 and 253 pounds, wasn't planning on committing early. That was until new Panthers head coach Dave Wannstedt came into the Duhart household and sold the Pittsburgh program to the youngster. Duhart liked what he heard, and committed.

"Coach Wannstedt came here tonight for an in-home visit and I committed," Duhart said. "Pittsburgh has been with me for a long time, even after Harris left they still recruited me."

Duhart was scheduled to take visits to Florida and Illinois. Those plans have changed.

"I'm a Panther, there's no need for me to take those trips," Duhart said.

Duhart is capable of playing a number of different positions, no matter where they put him his attitude stays the same.

"I'll do whatever they ask me to do to help the team," Duhart said.

Glades Central finished the season with a (12-1) record. Duhart caught 5 passes for 124 yards.

"We play a lot of four-five wide receiver formations, I don't get a lot of passes thrown to me," Duhart said. "I play a lot of defense, I punt, and I kickoff."

Duhart registered 58 tackles, 11 for a loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and one blocked punt, from his defensive end position.

Duhart was recently named first-team All-County (Palm Beach) by the/Palm Beach post/, he was also chosen to play in the *Outback Steakhouse Bowl*.
