Davis Twins Elect To Transfer

Chris Davis and Demitrious Davis redshirted last season. Demitrious had moved from receiver to running back, while Chris moved to the defensive side to play corner.

Pitt has lost a couple more players, as twins Demitrious Davis and Chris Davis have decided to transfer.

"I got love for panther nation but I have to put myself in a good position to succeed so I will be transferring," Chris Davis tweeted on Sunday afternoon. "I have nothing but love for the team and wish them the best of luck this up coming season."

Chris Davis Sr., who confirmed to Panther Digest of the decision of his sons to transfer, added it was nothing personal. He says Pitt was good to him and his family during their time in the program.

"We want to say, first and foremost, thank you to the Panther nation," Davis Sr. said. "They showed my family nothing but love and admiration. We have nothing but love and respect for Pitt. It's a sad day and a happy day in the Davis home. You close one chapter in life, you open another. The fans have been great. We wish Pitt well. There's no hard feelings."

The twins verbally committed to Pitt in late July of 2011. Despite Todd Graham leaving for Arizona State, they both stuck with their original commitment despite being pursued by other schools such as Arizona.

Demitrious started off at receiver, before moving to running back during his redshirt season. He remained with the running backs in the spring. Despite an injury that limited his senior year in high school, Davis was a first-team Division I all-state honoree, rushing for over 1,200 yards and 20 touchdowns from his quarterback position.

Chris moved from receiver to corner during the spring. In his final two years of high school, he collected a total of 50 receptions on offense with six interceptions on defense.

With the loss of the Davis', Pitt has now lost five members from its 2012 signing class, as well as nine players from Todd Graham's 2011 class.

The twins are eligible to transfer to any school, with the exception of ACC schools and Arizona and Arizona State where there are former Pitt assistants on both staffs. It's similar to the exceptions given when Rushel Shell also decided to transfer.
