Coleman Thomas holds about six offers. It's the time of year where he's starting to take junior day visits. Luckily, most of his offers or in a neighboring state that can allow him to get to several schools. He started it off with a trip to West Virginia this past weekend.
"It was good," Thomas said of his trip to Morgantown, "I got to spend some time with my sister, since she's there. The coaches showed me around. It was nice."
Thomas also got a nice surprise on his junior day visit to Tennessee, where Butch Jones and his new staff brought in several juir prospects.
"I was offered by Tennessee at their junior day," Thomas said. "I met coach (Don) Mahoney, coach (Tommy) Thigpen and coach Jones. They have a family environment there. They have some good things coming their way."
In-state school Virignia Tech was one of the first to show Thomas some interest. Though he's pretty familiar with Blacksburg, he plans on getting back there as well.
"Coach (Charley) Wiles recruits me, they offered me during the fall," Thomas said. "I went there, and loved the atmosphere. I'm excited to see what they can do this year."
Pittsburgh is another school on Thomas' offer list. He wouldn't rule out making a trip up there at some point.
"Pitt, I haven't heard from them in awhile, but they're definitely still on the list," Thomas said. "I'd like to try to get up there."
Coleman Thomas earned first-team all-conference at both center and linebacker this past season. He also earned all-section, all-region and all-state honors for his play at center this past season.
