PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers defensive end Marcus Thompson appreciates the challenges presented by the Army triple option but is not excited to go heads up with the cut-blocking technique up front. PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Marcus Thompson
got a taste of the Army
cut blocks last season, but will see it a lot more as a starter on the 2012 defensive line.
Rutgers has a recent history of success in defending the triple option and has to do it again this weekend against the Black Knights. For Thompson, who has 13 tackles this season, preparation in practice is key.
Thompson credits freshman receiver Ruhann Peele -- this week's scout team quarterback -- with getting Rutgers ready. Thompson went in-depth on Peele and the rest of the preparation needed for the unique Army offensive following Tuesday's practice.
