Pardner Ready To Roll

Jahmahl Pardner committed to the Panthers in November after picking up a late offer from the previous coaching staff. Despite being offered by the old staff, he talks about how he's even more excited about Pitt with the new staff in place.

Rochester (NY) Aquinas Institute is excited to sign his letter of intent on Wednesday to play football at the University of Pittsburgh. There was a brief period of uncertainty with the coaching change. It didn't take too long for him to remain committed to the Panthers.

"I can't wait," Pardner said. "I've been waiting for this day for a long time. I'm going to sign my papers at 8 am, then do another fake signing in front of my family at 2 pm."

Pardner said that new head coach Paul Chryst and secondary coach Matt House quickly moved in to keep him on board. He says once he met them, they eased any worries he might have had about a coaching change after being offered just a few weeks prior by the old coaching staff.

"With the coaching change, I'm actually more excited and more comfortable with this new coaching staff in place. Once I got to meet the new staff, I was even more comfortable. It was even more of a perfect fit. Coach House, he actually coached my favorite (NFL) team."

In fact, Pardner was toying with the option of coming to Pitt as either a safety or linebacker, possibly as the hybrid Spur position that was in place under the previous staff. House and Chryst gave him a new position that is one of the things that make him even more excited.

"They want me at corner," Pardner said. "They looked at my tape, and they see corner."
