Tino Sunseri was named Big East Offensive Player of the Week on Monday morning. It’s the first such honor for Sunseri in his Pitt career, and the first for a Pitt quarterback since Bill Stull earned the award for his performance against Louisville.
Sunseri completed 29-of-42 passes for 419 yards and two touchdowns for his performance against UConn on Wednesday night. It’s the most yards thrown in a collegiate game at Heinz Field, surpassing the previous mark of 380 yards by Tyler Palko set in 2004 against Furman. It also marked the fourth-most passing yards for a game by a Pitt quarterback in school history.
For the season, Sunseri has completed 151-of-240 passes (62.9%) for 1,623 yards and seven touchdowns. Sunseri also broke into Pitt’s top team for career passing yards in his last game. He’s thrown for 4,309 yards in his Pitt career, good enough for ninth on the school’s all-time list.
