Pitt received a scare on its first drive when senior right guard Lucas Nix--the Panthers' most experienced starter--went down with an unspecified injury.
Nix did return to the sideline to encourage his replacement, redshirt sophomore Ryan Schlieper. Schlieper played admirably in Nix's absence. On Friday, Graham gave a brief update on Nix.
"We received very positive feedback on Lucas Nix today from our medical staff as his MRI did not reveal any significant damage," Graham said in a prepared statement. "Lucas will undergo an intense rehabilitation program and we are hopeful he will be back in action soon."
The injury hasn't been specified, and Nix has not been officially ruled out for next Saturday's contest at Rutgers. The Panthers and Scarlet Knights take the field next Saturday in Piscatway at 3:30 pm, in a game that will be televised by ESPNU.
With 30 career starts under his belt, Nix has not missed a game in his career due to injury.
