Shanahan Named To Biletnikoff Award Watchlist

As a sophomore, Pitt receiver Mike Shanahan finished second on the time behind eventual first-round draft pick Jon Baldwin, catching 43 passes for 589 yards (13.7 avg) and one touchdowwn. Shanahan was also named to the Big East All-Academic Football Team.

Pitt junior wide receiver Mike Shanahan has been named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, announced the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.

The Biletnikoff Award is given to the nation’s most outstanding wide receiver. Shanahan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Irwin), who enters the 2011 season as Pitt’s top returning receiver, joins the group of 75 honorees on the preseason watch list.

In 2010, Shanahan recorded 43 receptions for 589 yards and one touchdown for an average of 13.7 yards per reception. In his young career, Shanahan has totaled 800 yards receiving on 58 catches for Pitt.
