Olack Still In The Loop

Massillon Washington (OH) receiver still on board with Pitt.

Massillon Washington (OH) receiver Justin Olack is remaining committed to Pitt, but there is some uncertainty about that commitment. With its second coaching search still in the works, who could blame him?

Olack did have some contact this week from Pitt director of football relations Bob Junko. The purpose of the conversation was simply to put Olack‘s mind at ease, keep him involved, but to also let him know his scholarship offer still stands. Junko enters the 15th year of his second stint as a Pitt assistant.

"Coach Junko, yeah it made me feel better about it," Olack said. "But, it's up to the (new) coach they hire. I'm kind of waiting to see who they hire. There's some uncertainty, with two coaches in the last month."

After the conversation, Olack said he will still take an official visit to Pitt on January 14. That was another mission of Junko's conversation with him--to at least keep him on board with an official, and an in-home. Junko's talk seemed to work there. Olack said he will also take an official visit to Toledo, in case things fall through with Pitt.

As Pitt waits to hire its new coach, people like Junko are keeping the current crop of recruits in the loop. With the line of communication open, and signing day now less than four weeks away, Junko's efforts are not only helping to keep the recruiting class intact. It's also making it an easier transition phase for the new coach, whoever it is, in signing his first recruiting class.

"It means a lot," Olack said of his conversation with Junko. "We'll see who they hire."
